Founded in 1964

The Journal of Band Research was founded in 1964 and is published twice a year in November and May. For information on subscribing to the Journal of Band Research, click on the How to Subscribe tab above.

For many years, The Journal of Band Research was printed and mailed from the campus of the University of Troy, Troy, Alabama. The longterm success of the Journal was due in large part to the commitment of the University of Troy from JBR Chairman Emeritus Dr. John R. Long. (deceased)
Beginning with the Fall Issue 2026, The Journal of Band Research will switch from being a printed & mailed journal to a digital-only journal. All of the back issues are available from The JBR Store, see below for details.
